I will be represented by 'Bishopsland' alongside 11 other makers. The theme of our presentation is to display the depth & diversity of the silversmith’s craft. The emphasis is on the skills of the craftsman in raising, forming, enamelling, engraving and chasing, both in structure and in ornamentation. Curated by the Harley Gallery under the direction of Director Lisa Gee and Gallery Manager Susan Sherrit.

The show will be open to the public from 11th May - Monday 14th May with the Private View on Thursday 10th 2012.

New Body Of Work

JAMES

This is the first in my new series of work inspired by scarring and facial disfigurastion.

This has developed with my research into the structure of our skin and what happens to it and ourselves when it becomes damaged. It is a little known fact that 1 in 150 people in the UK suffer some degree of scarring or disfigurement. I wish to transform what people can often see as distasteful or ugly, deformed or offensive into something beautiful, alluring and coveted. I believe silverware should be held and caressed, just as those with misfortune should be loved and admired.
