Photography in the studio

Ansell Cizic has been visiting and photographing artists in their studio's in the East End ; Hackney Wick and beyond.  Working on his new project he seems inspired by a particular moment, a feeling or an object within each space and uses that to capture the artist within their own environment.
We welcomed him to your studio just before Christmas. He was very taken by the light and the vintage workbench that we were given by the Museum of London.  Pictured as well are some of the hammers, that are significant to my work.

Goldsmiths' Fair 2014

Elizabeth Peers Beaker, Britannia SilverI am once again thrilled to be able to invite you to Goldsmiths' Fair, renowned as the most important, prestigious event of its kind in Europe. I will be exhibiting and selling my work during Week 2 of the Fair - 30th September - 5th October.

I will be exhibiting new pieces, which I have been developing since the beginning of this year following a trip to the beautiful and rugged Shetland, where I spent my Queen Elizabeth Scholarship with Rod Kelly, a Master in the technique of Chasing. Following this I have also drawn inspiration from my time exploring parts of India, taking in the warmth and colours of its landscape and people.

This year The Goldsmiths’ Fair has made some exciting new changes, including a new website where you can pre-book your tickets and browse the blog of artist stories.
There will also be a programme of Breakfast Talks and 'In Conversation' Talks, a selection of works chosen and by internationally renowned architect Zaha Hadid, a new late night Thursday opening and 2 for 1 ticket offers for those with a local London 'EC' postcode.

'Forget mass production, Goldsmiths' Fair is all about the bespoke, the original and the one-off'.

CONTEMPORARY BRITISH SILVERSMITHS

Our exhibition SIDE x SIDE - EDGE > EDGE has moved again.

SIDE x SIDE – EDGE > EDGE is the latest collection of silverware by Contemporary British Silversmiths and the first exciting collaboration with the Finnish Silversmiths Association and students and staff at the Lahti University of Applied Sciences Institute of Design, the exhibition features 75 pieces of new work designed and made in response to the themed title.

Elizabeth Peers - Celebration

The exhibition was launched, alongside the Silver Trust’s stunning 10 Downing Street collection, at Häme Castle in Hämeenlinna in 4 August 2009. Finland’s oldest castle provided a wonderful contrasting space in which to show contemporary silverware. The first UK venue for the exhibition will be the Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro in September 2010.

It is now being displayed at the Capstone Building Hope University, Liverpool.

The Capstone building is a concert venue with impressive public space. Our exhibition is displayed in the upper and lower foyers. Courtney Pine is due to perform there in the next month and will undoubtedly attract a large audience. The first thing visitors will see is the exhibition on arriving and during intermission. Christopher English organised the Goldsmiths’ Company video showing silversmiths at work, which will play throughout the exhibition. There are also some wonderful images of silversmiths at work throughout the display.

The exhibition was opened by Bill Chambers - Pro Vice Chancellor and Alan Whitaker, Head of Fine and Applied Arts at Liverpool Hope University.

Silversmith Faces Marathon

I'm Running The Berlin Marathon for Changing Faces

- PLEASE SPONSOR ME -

please contact via email - info@elizabethauriolpeers.com

AM I MAD? Probably, but then I think most silversmiths are, but my love for silver has taken me one step closer to my research and I find myself running the Berlin Marathon FOR CHANGING FACES this coming September.

Imagine being stared at, talked about, pointed at or hearing rude remarks about you every day. Living with a disfigurement or even supporting someone who has a disfigurement can be a distressing and isolating experience.

When people meet someone with a disfigurement they can often feel scared or embarrassed. People tend not to know what to do or say. This can lead to insensitive and hurtful behaviour.

For children this can mean that they are bullied and teased. This in turn leads to behavioural problems, poor academic performance and difficulties in making friends.

Low self-esteem and self-confidence in adults who have disfigurements can lead them to believe that a relationship, a good job, a family, or even simply friendship is out of the question, as they believe ‘there is no future for someone who looks like me.’

All of these people, you and I need to be helped and educated to encourage a positive change in the movement towards facial equality. This is where Changing Faces comes in.

I am running (so you don’t have to) the Berlin Marathon on the 25th September 2010 their aid.

Please help me to make a difference. Give someone back their hope and help them to learn to live with who they are.

Support the race for facial equality and give what ever you can. It can go a huge way.

Here’s HOW?

£1 sends a self-help booklet to a parent so that they can learn to manage reactions to their child’s appearance

£15 enables a specially trained counsellor to offer emotional support and advice over the telephone.

£70 enables a specially trained counsellor to offer emotional support and advice during a one-to-one counselling session

£100 secures a workshop place for one person to learn life skills to manage social situations and the reactions of others.

£250 enables a school specialist to provide in-school support and training to teachers, families, pupils and support workers.

EMAIL ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT ME. I WILL BE IN TOUCH TO GIVE YOU DETAILS OF HOW. (IE. AN ADDRESS OR BANK DETAILS.)

Thank you xx
